With the move to Capernaum, Jesus’ ministry began to grow and have a serious impact in Galilee. It was as if they could “get down to business” now that they had escaped the confines of family and familiarity. Matthew seems to indicate this was a turning point by his phrase “from that day on, Jesus began to preach that the Kingdom was near.” Mark moves straight to the ministry in Capernaum and gives Jesus’ message. Luke uses this move to introduce a demonic deliverance and John ignores the move.
