Mary's Visit of Elizabeth

Luke 1:39-56

Quickly leaving, Mary went to the hill country, to a city of Judah where she entered the home of Zechariah and greeted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that when Elisabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the baby leaped in her womb and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

And she shouted, saying, “Blessed are you among women! And blessed is the child of your pregnancy. And how has this visit come to me, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? Look, when I heard the sound of your greeting, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is the one believing, for the things spoken to her from the Lord shall be completed.”

And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit is exulted in God my Savior! For he has looked on the modest state of his handmaiden. Look, from now on, all generations will consider me blessed, because the Mighty One did great things for me. Holy is his name and his mercy extends to generations and generations of those fearing him.

“He used the might of his arm. He scattered the haughty ones, knowing their hearts. He pulled down rulers from their thrones and honored the humble ones. The hungering, he filled with good things and rich ones he sent away empty. He nurtured his servant, Israel, remembering mercy as he spoke to our fathers—to Abraham and to his seed forever.”

And Mary remained about three months and went home.
