Growing National Recognition
The Galilee
Late 30 A.D. - Spring, 33 A.D.
After moving to Capernaum, sometime late in 30 A.D., Jesus began to teach locally. Soon, he became a local celebrity for his teaching and by the following spring would have become a regional hero.
Expanding in what is generally called the Galilean tour, he confronted the religious establishment two years in a row at Passover. This would have appealed to the people of Galilee in their struggle for recognition from the Judeans. Now, these backward cousins of the national elite had a rabbi that had to be taken seriously by Jerusalem. Thus, Jesus began to expand his ministry during the summer of 31 A.D., in the Galilee.
