Parable of the Vine and Branches
John 15:1-8

Leaving Jerusalem
Pre-dawn, Thursday, March 5, 33 A.D.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine dresser. He takes away every branch in me that bears no fruit, and every branch that bears fruit, he prunes so it will bear more fruit.

“Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you. Reside in me as I reside in you. Like the branch, which cannot bear fruit by itself but only if it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. He that abides in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit, but without me you can do nothing.

“If a man does not abide in me, he is a detached branch and withers. Men gather those, throw them into the fire, and burn then. If you remain in me, and my words abide in you, you may ask whatever you desire and it will be done for you. By this, my Father is glorified, that is, that you bear much fruit. By this, you will be my disciples.
