Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial

After Peter asks where Jesus is going, it seems he understands that Jesus is speaking of his coming death and offers to die with him. It seems that Jesus doesn’t doubt Peter’s sincerity, only his capacity.

Knowing Peter’s capacity far better than Peter, Jesus tells him that he will deny him three times and that he will do so in the very near future. In fact, it will be before the day even gets started. Specifically, it will be before the rooster crows.
