Fig Tree Cursed
Matthew 21:18-22; Mark 11:12-14
Matthew 21:18-22
Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he was hungry. When he saw a fig tree along the way, he went over to it but found nothing on it, only leaves. He said to it, “May no one eat your fruit again.” And soon, the fig tree began to wither.
When the disciples saw it, they were astonished, asking each other, “How did the fig tree wilt so soon?”
Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth. If you have faith—and don’t doubt—you can not only do this to a fig tree, but you can say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and thrown into the sea’—and it will be done. And anything you ask in prayer, believing, you will get.”
Mark 11:12-14
The next day as they came from Bethany, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree at a distance with leaves, he walked over to it hoping to find some figs. When he got there, there was nothing but leaves because it was early for fruit.
Disappointed, Jesus said to the tree, “May no one eat your fruit again.” And his disciples heard it.
