Jesus Clears the Court of the Gentiles
Matthew 21:10-11, Mark 11:11a
Matthew 21:10-11
And when he came into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?” And the crowd with him said, “This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and chased out everyone who bought and sold in the temple. He overturned banker’s tables and the seats of those selling doves. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called the house of prayer,’ but you have made it a den of thieves.”
And the blind and the crippled came to him in the temple and he healed them. But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children shouting in the temple, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” it angered them. They said to him, “Do you hear what they are saying?”
Jesus said to them, “Yes! Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of children, you have perfected praise?’”
Mark 11:11a
And Jesus entered Jerusalem, and went to the temple.
