Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

Luke 22:31-34, John 13:31-38

Luke 22:31-34

And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon. Look, Satan has begged for you so he can sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you that your faith doesn’t fail. And when you return, strengthen your brothers.”

And he said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you, both to prison and even to death”

And he said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow for the coming day, before you deny that you even know me three times.”

John 13:36-38

Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?”

Jesus answered him, “Where I go, you can’t follow me just now, but you will follow me later.”

Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you if needed.”

Jesus answered him, “Would you die for me? I tell you the truth, the rooster will not have crowed until you have denied me three times.”
