Jesus Formally Condemned by the Sanhedrin

Matthew 27:1, Luke 22:63-71

Matthew 27:1

That morning all the chief priests and elders of the people agreed to put Jesus to death.

Luke 22:63-71

And the men that held Jesus heckled him and struck him. After they blindfolded him, they struck him on the face and said, “Prophesy! Who hit you?” And they spoke many other blasphemous things against him.

And as soon as it was day, the political leaders and the Sanhedrin gathered, brought him into the meeting and demanded, “Are you the Messiah? Tell us.”

And he said to them, “If I tell you, you won’t believe me. And if I ask you a question, you won’t answer me or let me go. Eventually, the Son of man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”

Then they all said, “Are you the Son of God?”

And he said to them, “You are right to say I am.”

And they said, “We need no more witnesses. We’ve heard this from his own mouth for ourselves!”
