John's Comments on Jesus's Rejection

John 12:36b-50

Even though he had done so many miracles in their presence, they didn’t believe him, therefore fulfilling what Isaiah foretold:

“Lord, who has believed our report—and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

They could not believe, because it is as Isaiah also said:

“He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their hearts. Thus, they will not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, turn and be healed by me.”

Isaiah said the

se things when he saw his glory. So, he spoke of him. Even so, some of the nation’s leaders believed on him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him. Otherwise, they would have been put out of the synagogue. Sadly, they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Jesus had said, “He that depends on me, doesn’t just depend on me, but on him that sent me. And he that sees me sees him that sent me. I am a light that has come into the world, so that whomever believes on me will not abide in darkness.

“And if anyone hears my words, and doesn’t believe, I don’t judge him. I didn’t come into the word to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects me and what I say has someone to judge him. The word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on my own authority; but the Father who sent me instructed me as what I should say and how I should speak. And I know that his direction is everlasting life. So, whatever I speak is what the Father says to me. So, I speak.”
