Peter's Initial Denial

Simon Peter followed Jesus, as did another disciple, one known by the high priest, who went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest. But Peter stood outside by the door.

The other disciple, the one known by the high priest, went back out and spoke to the girl who kept the door and brought in Peter. There, at the door, the girl said to Peter, “Aren’t you one of this man's disciples?”

He said, “I am not.”

And the servants and officers stood there where they had made a fire of coals since it was cold and warmed themselves. Peter had stayed with them and warmed himself.
