The Unresponsive Cities
Matthew 11:20-30
Then he began to scold the cities where he had done most of his miracles, because they didn’t repent. “Anguish to you, Chorazin—and to you, Bethsaida! If the miraculous things done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented instantly in sackcloth and ashes!
But I say to you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, have you not been exalted up to heaven—you shall decline. As to the mighty works that were done in you, had they been done in Sodom, it would still be here. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for the land of Sodom in the time of God’s judgment, than for you.
Continuing, Jesus said, “I give thanks to you Father, lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and experienced, but have revealed them to the immature. Yes, Father, you do as you please.
“Everything has been delivered to me by my Father. No one fully knows the Son except the Father, and no one fully knows the Father except the Son—and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
“All of you that work hard and are burdened—come to me! I will give you rest. Accept my yoke and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart. Then you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
