Widow of Nain's Son Raised

And the next day, Jesus went to the city called Nain, and a crowd of disciples went with him. As they approached the city gate…Look! …a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his widowed mother. A crowd from the city was with her.

When the Lord saw her, he felt sympathy for her and said to her, “Don’t weep.” He came, and when he touched the bier, those that caried it stopped. Then he said, “Young man, I’m speaking to you. Arise.” And the dead man sat up and began to speak. And he gave him back to his mother.

It shocked everyone, but they glorified God, talking about the fact that a great prophet had been found among them and that God had visited his people. And the news about him spread throughout all Judea as well as throughout that region.
