Jesus at the Temple

Luke 2:41-52

Year by year, his parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they completed its duties, they returned, but the boy, Jesus, remained in Jerusalem, however, his parents did not know it. Supposing him to be in the company, they went a day's journey and began to look for him among their relatives and friends. When they couldn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem and searched for him.

And eventually after searching for three days they found him sitting in the temple with the rabbis, listening to them and asking them questions. And everyone that heard him were amazed at his intelligent answers. And seeing him there, they were amazed. And his mother said to him, “Son, why did you do this to us? Your father and I have fearfully been searching for you!”

And he said to them, “Why did you need to search for me? Didn’t you know I must be about my father’s affairs?” But they didn’t realize what he was saying in what he said.

And he left with them, and went to Nazareth, and was obedient to their direction. But his mother carefully kept all these matters in her heart. And Jesus progressed in wisdom and growth, and in favor with God and man.
