The Wedding in Cana
John 2:1-12
And on the third day, there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Both Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran short of wine, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine.”
But Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does that have to do with you or me? My hour hasn’t come yet.” But his mother said to the servants, “Whatever he tells you to do, do it.”
And there were six stone water pots, the kind holding water for the Jewish ceremonial washing. Each contained about twenty to thirty gallons. And Jesus said to them, “Fill the water pots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. Then he said to them, “Draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” And they did so.
The master of the banquet tasted the water which had become wine, not knowing where it had come from. Only the servants which brought the water knew. And the master of the banquet called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Everyone puts the good wine out at the beginning, and the worse when people are a bit drunk. But you have kept the best wine until now.”
This was the start of miracles that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, demonstrating his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
