The Ascension

Mark 16:19-20; Luke 24:50-52; Acts 1:9-11

Mark 16:19-20

So, after the Lord had spoken to them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God. And they went about, preaching everywhere and the Lord was with them confirming the word with signs. (The two most reliable early manuscripts do not have Mark 16:9-20)

Luke 24:50-52

And he led them out as far as Bethany. He lifted up his hands and blessed them. And as he blessed them, he was taken from them and carried up into heaven. They worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. They continued in the temple, praising and blessing God.

Acts 1:9-11

And when he had spoken these things, while they watched, he was taken up. A cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked toward heaven as he went up.

Look! Two men stood by them in white apparel and said, “You men of Galilee, why are you standing here, gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which was taken up from you into heaven shall return in the same way as you have seen him go into heaven.”
