Barabbas Released, Jesus Condemned

True to the request of the mob, Pilate released Barabbas and turned Jesus over to be crucified. A sad factor in human character is that often those who are in a weak position bring out the beast in their otherwise cowardly oppressors.

Where did they get the purple robe? We aren’t told, but earlier, Herod had robed Jesus in a royal robe as a joke. Perhaps it was Herod’s robe the solders used.
