Jesus Betrayed by a Kisss

Matthew 26:47-56, Mark 14:43-52, Luke 22:47-53, John 18:2-11

Pre-dawn, Thursday, March 5, 33 A.D.

Gethsemane, Kidron Valley

Each of the writers gives us some sidelights to the event. Mark adds the details of the young man who fled naked and John gives us the name of the servant healed. It is generally assumed that the young man was Mark, who had come in the throng. It’s also assumed that the healed servant, Malchus, mentioned by John probably became a believer and early church leader. Thus, John’s original readers probably knew who he was.
