Jesus Clears the Temple

Most likely, Jesus went directly to the temple, having seen the market that was being closed in the court of the gentiles the night before.

Once the Sabbath was over, one could again work. Early morning set-up would have been completed and morning business would have been in full stride when Jesus returned to the temple. He quotes his authority: God’s command that this is to be a house of prayer, not just for Jews but also for the nations.
