Jesus Comforts the Disciples
Luke 22:35-39, John 14:1-31a
Late Wednesday Evening, March 4, 33 A.D.
Jerusalem
Anxiety runs high, and Jesus, rather than being concerned as to his coming death, is concerned for the disciples. He is clear about his coming death but the disciples seem fixated on him speaking of some earthly continuance.
He again, promises the coming of the Holy Spirit, but until that occurs, they have no grasp of its empowering. Jesus again tells them that there is no limitation on what they will do, if they are following his directions. “Ask whatever you will” carries the implication that only applies when we, like he, act as directed.
