Jesus Weeps for Jerusalem
Luke 19:41-44
Friday Afternoon, February 27, 33 A.D.
Mount of Olives, at the edge of Kidron Valley
As the column of pilgrims approached Jerusalem, they come to what Mark calls “where the Mount of Olives descends.” This would have been where Jerusalem could be seen. Considering that the road up from Jericho was mountainous, this may have been the first glimpse of the city.
His prophecy literally came true four decades later when the Romans breached the city after starving it into submission and destroyed the temple.
