Parable of the Two Sons

Jesus continues the discussion with the temple officials and moves to a point of condemnation. Those who had strayed and repented were the first son and the officials were the second who said the right thing, but disobeyed. The tax-collectors and prostitutes would outrank the self-righteous in God’s kingdom. Nothing could have been seen by them as a greater insult.
