Pilgrims Recognize Fulfillment

Once Jesus mounted the donkey and continued toward Jerusalem, those who were well schooled in the scriptures caught the fulfillment of Zachariah’s prophecy. Instantly, the chant grew. Those who didn’t recognize it were told by their neighbors. Even those who objected knew what the signal was.

As it spread and grew, those set in their own traditions cautioned Jesus to quiet the growing claim, which he good-naturedly rejected.
