Mark 1:21-28, Luke 4:33-37

Mark 1:21-28

And they went into Capernaum; and immediately he went into the synagogue and taught, for it was the Sabbath. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them with authority rather than like the scribes.

In the synagogue service, there was a man with an unclean spirit who interrupted by saying, “Let us alone! What do you have to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are; the One of God!”

Jesus quieted him, saying, “Hush! Come out of him.”

Thrashing him about and loudly screaming, the unclean spirit came out of him. All were amazed and talked among themselves, asking, “What is this? By what authority and teaching does he command even the unclean spirits and they obey him? And immediately his fame spread throughout the entire region of Galilee.

And the man thrashed about in their midst and the demon came out of him without injuring him.
