As the morning progressed—perhaps mid-morning—Jesus set about to teach. Situating himself in a boat on the edge of the Sea of Galilee, he taught those on the shore in parables. One wonders why so much of the teaching of this one day was preserved. Perhaps it was because he only spoke in parables and left the crowd without any explanation.
