Surely, this was the Sabbath following the healing of Jarus’s daughter and the other miracles of that day. Having been sought by crowds, Jesus now returned home—only to find a rejection from those who knew him best. There almost seems to be a jealousy in his neighbors that he has national acclaim and they do not.
